Acid Buffers by Absolique Trichologist
Acid buffers are used to buffer acid when we are testing and checking body pH for acid/alkaline balance. The human body general pH balance it at its best when it is around 7 which is neutral on the pH scale. At Absolique we teach everyone about the importance of body pH balance for the purpose of digestion, absorption, healing, repairing, alkalising and detoxifying. When the pH is out of balance these important body functions are compromised and can lead to deficiencies, nutritional lows, weight gain and toxic overload.
Testing pH is the first step, at Absolique we recommend Easy pH test kits (available from Absolique or online) which includes testing litmus paper and informative booklet that includes a food guide and information to help you understand what can impact pH negatively and positively. It really is a hand guide to help you make simple changes and to see how your body responds.
Acid Buffers by Absolique Trichologist:
- Buffer acid pH and the festive season
- Absolique acid buffer
- Bi carb with Vitamin C or magnesium powder
- Lemon juice
- Apple cider vinegar
Once you know your pH, which is most likely acid to start with, you can then make changes and see how your body responds. This is where acid buffers can assist as it may be difficult to budge your pH from acid to neutral in the early days depending on what your body has accumulated. If your pH is below 7 in the morning or if you know you have been exposed to acid food, drinks, stress or Christmas festivities, you would use an acid buffer before bedtime.
There are various acid buffers you can use including premade Absolique Acid Buffer (available in clinic) which is simple to use and all done for you, simply mix 1 heaped teaspoon in 20ml filtered water, stir, drink, go to the bathroom (so the liquid before bed does not wake you up during the night), brush your teeth and go to bed.
Other acid buffers are bi carb, make sure it is organic and aluminium free. Start with half a teaspoon and mix as above, it is not very tasty so I recommend adding half a teaspoon of vitamin C powder or magnesium powder, or both as they will be used by the body. Lemon juice is another good acid buffer and is historically used as a detox to start the day. You can do this or use juice of half a lemon in up to 50ml of water before bed, don’t forget to brush your teeth after taking lemon juice or at least swish your mouth with water. And last but not least is the amazing apple cider vinegar, organic with the mother, take 10-20ml with 20-50ml water before bed and follow above directions for teeth and getting ready for bed.
Absolique acid buffer is medium strength, Bi carb is strong in strength, lemon juice and apple cider vinegar both have other nutritional properties and are softer buffers yet beneficial all the same. Absolique Trichologist suggest you try all the above-mentioned acid buffers and see how your body responds to choose the one that suits you on the day. Rotate them around or include the lemon juice and apple cider vinegar at other times of day as they are good digestive aids and support hydrochloric acid production (HCl, stomach acid) and bile flow which are both essential for digestion.
